Paws to Read

The mission of the PAWS TO READ Program is to improve the literacy skills of children with the assistance of registered canine reading companions in a fun and relaxed environment. Research with therapy animals indicates that children with low self-esteem are often more willing to interact with an animal than another person. Also in Canada at Therapeutic Paws to Read

Your dog or puppy needs regular grooming. Grooming is an important method of physical contact and emotional bonding between you and your pet. Your puppy may not like to be brushed and bathed at first, but with time, he will come to enjoy being brushed, combed and bathed.
  1. Grooming keeps your dog's coat free of matting and knots
  2. Dogs and puppies can be bathed at home or at a local groomer. To protect your puppy's health, do not take him to a groomer until he has had all his vaccinations. Use proper shampoo and conditioner for your dog's age and needs
  3. Your dog's toenails need regular trimming which you can do yourself or pay a groomer.
  4. If grooming your dog at home, you will need proper grooming tools such as combs, nail clippers, scissors, electric clippers or brushes.
Dog Team Tip: Use the Pre-wet wipes , like the kind you use for a baby when you change its diaper, to cleanse puppy's paws when he comes in from outside. Use them to clean his private areas after he urinates or defecates. This helps prevent soiling and stinky dog smells!
